MAJA BARROSO LISAC is a Slovenian-Swiss saxophone player, born in Basel in 1980.

After her classical studies in Vienna and Basel, she is invited to perform in many European countries, is a jury member at music competitions and gives masterclasses in Slovenia, Switzerland and Australia.

Her musical arrangements reach from solo to ensemble formations and are played by soloists like Claude Delangle and Daniel Gauthier.

At home in many musical genres, Maja Lisac is member of several groups: She is founder of the Zure Saxophone quartet, member of the international Ensemble Intersax, the Bandoneon-Saxophone Duo Nisinman/Lisac, the Insects & Humans Tango group and the Ensemble Nucleus with new invented instruments.

Maja Lisac receives prizes and scholarships of Novartis, the Friedl Wald foundation and the city of Basel.

In 2008, Maja Lisac is elected for a one year residency at the Cité Intérnationale des Arts in Paris, where she collaborates with composers and improvisors Vinko Globokar, Bojana Saljic and Izidor Leitinger.

She became an assistant professor of prof. Marcus Weiss at the Music University in Basel in 2011.

In 2015, Maja Lisac performed in duo with US saxophonist Branford Marsalis.

Currently, Maja Lisac teaches as an adjunct professor at the Jazzcampus Basel, Suisse where she gives classical saxophone and technique classes for Bachelor and Master students.

In 2018, she will start her own concert series called "Saxophone & Seasons".
